Cheap Motorcycle Insurance - Can it provide enough security ?

When buying motorcycle insurance we need to understand there is no such thing as cheap motorcycle insurance. Because of the

inherent risk of bodily harm when riding a motorcycle, especially working as a motorcycle courier, so in the long run motorcycle

insurance can be relatively expensive. That being said there are still things you need to understand about your motorcycle

insurance cover that could get you better deals and the appropriate protection.

The first thing you want to think about is adequate medical coverage that gives you a monthy payout if your laid up. I have one and

if i am laid up it pays me so much a month. Remember the risks of injury when involved in a crash with a car is always higher for

the motorcycle rider and insurance costs relect this especially if your a motorcycle courier. In spite of the fact that this is probably

the most expensive of your insurance, except if your a motorcycle courier, you have G.I.T insurance which isn't cheap.

So taking out added insurance cover is advisable, you don't want to find yourself laid up with no money coming in.

Be certain to get no-fault insurance coverage, meaning no matter who might be at fault you are covered. This is pretty standard in

most policies but you will need to make sure.

Comprehensive motorcycle insurance is also important. Comprehensive motorcycle insurance will pay you for all non-accident

related events that could occur like theft, vandalism, fire, etc. Motorcycles tend to be wanted targets by thieves and vandals and

the possibility of something happening to your bike is pretty high. For instance if your delivering to a large office block 10 floors up

so your going to leave your motorcycle unattended for sometime. It happened to me in London, had to deliver to an office block

12 floors up. While i was inside a taxi went into my motorcycle. Someone saw what happened and i made a claim but it

could of been much worse. So make sure you have good motorcycle insurance cover, if your a motorcycle courier its a must.

Remember the same factors that effect car insurance also effect motorcycle insurance. Age, type of motorcycle, total mileage

for the year which is going to be high if your a motorcycle courier. Location, and where your motorcycle is kept, what you

use your motorcycle for and your riding record - if you have a no claims bonus.

Delivery to Hackney London

Working as a motorcycle courier you have to deliver to all kinds of places and meet people from all walks of life. Hackney is regarded as one of the worst places

to live in the UK. The common joke about the place is ' why does the Regents Canal run through Hackney? So it doesn't get shot '. Delivered to a place on

Mare Street which was very busy and is the heart of Hackney. Thats what i enjoy about being a motorcycle courier, you deliver to every part of the country

and meet people from different cultures. I got a nice hot mug of tea and a free cream cake for my trouble which are the perks of the job.

I like Hackney but you've got to be alert on a motorcycle, drivers don't believe in giving way and you need eyes in the back of your helmet. Being a motorcycle

courier riding through a busy town or city tests your motorcycle riding skills, if your not up to the job you end up in the gutter or over someones bonnet.

I've been fortunate and not had a crash, but it only takes some pratt to shunt me from behind to change that. If you have any stories or experiences you

would like to share send me an email and i'll post them on here.

Delivery to Central London

Being a motorcycle courier exposes you to some of the idiots on our roads. I came across alot of them while making this delivery. For any car and lorry

drivers out there, don't just use your mirrors, turn your head and check your blindside before overtaking. I lost count of the amount of times someone

pulled out into the outside lane in front of me. I'm a big bloke on a big motorcycle with headlights blazing but some people just don't check properly,

can't be bothered or are just terrible drivers. The worst instance was a lorry that pulled out last minute making me brake and swerve into the middle lane

to get passed him. What a ######. The centre of London is busy but not that bad. I enjoy riding through it and battling with taxis, buses, cars, cyclists,

and not forgetting pedestrians. They just walk out in front of you in a world of their own. The advantage of being a motorcycle courier opposed to driving a van is

not only cutting through the traffic but parking up when you reach your destination. Once i deliver the consignment i don't hang around, get on my motorcycle and

get out of London. Once i'm out i usually stop at the services and have a hot tea before heading for home.
